President-elect Donald Trump embraced the chance to take hardline stances on several issues while he was campaigning for the presidency, but has since softened on campaign promises.
Trump's transition team has already named Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus as the incoming chief of staff, and is reportedly considering Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani and other longtime political insiders for cabinet positions. This comes after Trump's promises to "drain the swamp" in Washington, D.C.
The president-elect also vowed to repeal and replace "Obamacare" numerous times on the campaign trail. But on "60 Minutes" this past Sunday, he said that key parts of the Affordable Care Act would stay in place.
Trump also said that a fence would be "acceptable" in some parts along the southern border with Mexico. He had vowed to build a wall along the border and have Mexico pay for it.
Wayne Longo, of Bayville, says he isn't worried about Trump's change in tone.
"I think he's trying to reach out to people now, and I think we're going to be OK," says Longo.
Some voters who did not support Trump during the election say they have seen some signs of hope over the past week.
"I have to give him a chance. I think he's softening a little bit on immigration," says Marilyn Pagano, of Hicksville.
