A woman in labor was rushed to Stony Brook University Medical Center after being hit in a car crash while already en route to the hospital Tuesday.

The woman gave birth in the emergency room of the hospital. Hospital officials say the baby is healthy and doing well.

The expectant parents were involved in a three-car crash at Route 112 and County Road 83. Police say the car, which was also carrying the couple's three children, was hit by two vehicles headed south on 83 after it ran a red light.

Police say four others injured in the crash are also doing OK.
