It is perhaps the most heated Long Island race this election season. Moments after Don Clavin resigned as town supervisor, former Legislator John Ferretti, the GOP nominee to run for the position, was sworn in.
Ferreti's appointment was met with lots of criticism from the other side of the aisle. In the weeks leading up to it, Democrats were sounding the alarm, saying the move would help the Republican gain an advantage in the November election against Garden City Democrat Joe Scianablo.
He joined Rich Barrabi to discuss the issue and many other topics on this week’s Power & Politics.
Also, it has been 20 years since Hurricane Katrina. The New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing based in Westhampton Beach, headed down to New Orleans all those years ago and was able to extract 161 people from the flooded city over three days.
Retired Colonel Michael Canders joined the show to discuss those rescue efforts.
