Con Edison reported more than 1,200 utility customers were without power throughout the Bronx Wednesday.
Some Throgs Neck residents blame a transformer for three power outages and shortages in two days. Con Ed customers say they are taking plenty of showers to stay cool. Some are sacrificing expensive gasoline to run the air conditioning in their cars.
Con Edison says the University Heights, Tremont and Bedford Park sections of the Bronx are also affected by power outages. There is no word on when power will be restored.
