Potholes are creating major problems for drivers across the Island.

Joe Grainey, of Moriches, says he was driving on Route 112 in the Coram area on Monday night when he hit a pothole that bent his rims, destroyed the front and back tires and dented his car.

He claims he saw at least a dozen other cars suffer the same fate that evening.

Grainey says the damage is at least $1,000.

He says he's called the state, but no one has gotten back to him about his claim.

News 12's Drew Scott reports that insurance may not cover his expenses. If the state doesn't have the pothole on a town or county list, Grainey may not be covered by insurance.
