Pothole season has arrived again on Long Island.
According to a AAA study, drivers in the United States spent $15 billion to repair pothole-damaged vehicles over the past five years.
The same study revealed that 16 million drivers have suffered pothole damage to their car in the last five years, with the average bill amounting to $300.
Robert Sinclair, of AAA Northeast, says drivers in the Northeast see the highest rates of pothole damage.
Long Island residents agreed that more needs to be done to keep the roadways safe for drivers.
"I think [the roads] are pretty bad, and when you have the winter with the thaw and freeze, let's see what they do in the spring when winter is over," says Phyllis Gross, of New Hyde Park.
