This morning

Dense fog is expected through 9AM reducing visibility and causing heavy frost on windshields. Black ice has developed on untreated surfaces after a day of major snow melt on Friday.
Sunshine is expected later this morning and temperatures will quickly climb above freezing by 9 AM.

A Warm Saturday

Temperatures will approach 50 degrees on the south shore and rise into the upper 40s across much of the island. This is the warmest weather we've seen so far this month. Expect light wind and a mix of sun and clouds.

Snow on Sunday

A quick round of mostly light to moderate snow, possibly with some mixing is likely from around 7 am to noon. This can be enough for reduced visibility and a coating up to 1 inch of new snow. This will lead to some new slippery spots.

Wintry then Wet Next Week

Monday is very cold but dry with high temperatures only in the upper 20s. Tuesday is dry to start, but wintry mix will arrive in the afternoon. A quick coating of snow or ice is possible on Tuesday evening which could slow down the evening commute.
Steady rain is expected Wednesday with rain showers expected for the remainder of the week.

HOW IS THE SNOW MELTING SO FAST?

The snow is melting fast and the sunshine feels so much warmer than the temperature would lead you to believe. The higher angle of the sun, longer daylight, and more powdery snowpack is helping the snow melt much faster with this round than the snow we saw in January.
The snowpack will likely be gone by the end of next week.. That said, it could take until the middle of March to get the highest snow mounds to completely melt.

THINKING SPRING?
