The Port Jefferson woman charged with the 2022 killing of an elderly woman in Manhattan has pleaded guilty.
Lauren Pazienza will be sentenced to eight years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision under the terms of the plea deal, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.
Pazienza pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter in the first degree for pushing 87-year-old Barbara Gustern to the ground in Chelsea on Mar. 10, 2022. Pazienza then walked away and Gustern suffered severe head injuries in the fall and died five days later.
Bragg called it an unprovoked attack.
Pazienza will be sentenced on Sept. 29, 2023.
