Starting today, select Long
Islanders will head to a new COVID-19 pop-up vaccination site in Wyandanch.
It's the latest in a series
of locations opening to provide shots to Long Islanders in underserved
communities.
The site is open between 9
a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Gerald Ryan Outreach Center on Straight Path.
Assemblywoman Kimberly
Jean-Pierre says the pop-up site will deliver life-saving doses to people who
otherwise might not be able to get them.
Without a car, some of the vaccination sites
are out of reach.
“If you don't make things accessible to people then
it becomes nearly impossible, particularly for some demographics, for some
communities,” says Jean-Pierre.
The 500 appointments that
were available at this site were all booked in about a day and a half.
