A recent News 12/Newsdy Sienna College Poll shows Islip Town Supervisor Tom Croci is ahead in his bid to become state senator.
About 56 percent of those polled would vote for Croci over his opponent Adrienne Esposito if the election were held today.
About 29 percent chose the environmentalist for the seat in the third Senate District.
About 15 percent say they are still unsure.
