A Wyandanch man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a passenger in his car and threatening her with a gun.
Police say Derrick Bonds hit the victim with the back of his hand on her cheek and lips Monday evening in Roslyn Heights.
The suspect is then accused of pulling over to get his gun that was somewhere else in the car.
When Bonds got out, the 55-year-old victim told police she jumped in the driver's seat and drove away, leaving her alleged attacker in the street.
The victim was then able to contact police and was taken to the hospital.
Bonds was found at the gas station a short time afterward.
