Two women were badly injured during a crash in Bay Shore Friday night, police say.

Suffolk County police say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Fifth Avenue at Reil Place.

They say the driver of a Kia SUV was side-swiped by a Mercedes sedan, which then crashed into a tree.

The female driver of the sedan and another female passenger were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the SUV, a mother, father and their two children, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released.
