Police: Woman charged with DWI in fatal Middle Island crash

Police say Melissa Koprowski was attempting to turn left on Middle Country Road around 8:30 p.m. when she crashed into another car.

A 31-year-old Yaphank woman has been accused of causing a deadly car crash while driving drunk Friday in Middle Island.
Police say Melissa Koprowski was attempting to turn left on Middle Country Road around 8:30 p.m. when she crashed into another car.
They say 75-year-old Esther Gui was then transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Her granddaughter, Crystal Marks, was also hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
