A man is facing a slew of charges for assaulting people and crashing a stolen car Sunday morning in Valley Stream, according to police.
Detectives say the incident began when Jonathan Louissaint, 32, broke into a house on Forest Avenue.
He allegedly punched a 24-year-old man inside the home and hit his hand with a metal bar.
He is then accused of going to a local 7-Eleven and striking a man’s hand with a beer can.
Police say he attempted to enter multiple vehicles in the area before entering a parked car that was left running.
He drove off and eventually crashed into another car containing two people on New Hyde Park Road, according to detectives.
Police say he also struck a parked vehicle, which then damaged a nearby business sign.
While being arrested at the scene, police say he injured an officer by striking him in the face.
The charges against Louissaint include burglary, assault, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, attempted grand larceny, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
Authorities say he is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Hempstead.
