Some of Nassau County's finest are gearing up to honor the families of fallen officers.
They are training for the Police Utility Tour, a 300-mile bike ride from New York City to Washington, D.C.
"We always talk about when a police officer dies in the line of duty, they make the ultimate sacrifice. And these rides every year demonstrate that we will be there for the families, we will be there and remember their sacrifices the cops and families made over the history of law enforcement," said Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter.
The ride is scheduled to take place next month.
Organizers hope to raise more than $2 million from the ride.
