Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday that patrols will be stepped up on Thursday to target drug-impaired drivers.

April 20 is normally celebrated by cannabis enthusiasts, but police will be making sure that no one is driving after smoking.

State police are reminding drivers that even though adult recreational use of marijuana is legal, it is illegal to drive while impaired.

Impaired driving charges could cost thousands of dollars in fines and result in jail time.
