Nassau County police are investigating a pair of threats made at Uniondale and Baldwin High schools this week, which police believe are part of a TikTok challenge.
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says children are posting evacuations of the school after calling in the false alarm.
The threats have been occurring across the country, and TikTok has stated that it takes the rumored threats seriously, including searching and removing posts that promote violence.
Ryder is telling parents to talk to their children about threats.
"You can't be putting this stuff on the media," Ryder says. "You can't be calling these fake false alarms in."
He says the investigation continues for those who called in the threats to the high school.
TikTok has a webpage dedicated to helping people evaluate the various challenges posted on its social media platform.
