Police: Teen injured when bag explodes in Island Park

Police say a teenager was rushed to the hospital after a bag he lit on fire exploded in Island Park.
According to police, the 16-year-old lit the bag on fire in a backyard on Waterford Road. Police say the contents of the bag heated and exploded, causing a heated liquid to expel.
The teen was taken to NUMC after the liquid caused burns to the teen’s back and arms.
Police say there was no explosive device involved and no criminality appears to be involved.
