Police: Teen hospitalized after hit-and-run driver sent her SUV into Bellmore creek

Detectives say the collision send her SUV off the road through a fence and into Whaleneck Creek Culvert.

A 17-year-old girl was hospitalized after police say a hit-and-run driver rear-ended her SUV, causing it to swerve into a creek in Bellmore.
Detectives say the teenager was driving on Merrick Road around 9 p.m. Thursday when she was hit by a red vehicle.
They say the collision send her SUV off the road through a fence and into Whaleneck Creek Culvert.
The girl was able to get out and was taken to the hospital.
Police say the driver of the car left without stopping.
