Police and fire crews responded to a fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway Saturday night.

It happened just before midnight in Babylon.

Police say 17-year-old Joseph Bertolino, of East Meadow, lost control of a 1999 Honda Accord eastbound on the parkway, east of New Highway.

They say the vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder striking a light pole and a tree.

Bertolino was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say speed may have played a factor.
