A police pursuit in Rockland County on Tuesday has landed two minors in custody, according to officials.
Police have confirmed the initial situation began around 3:30 p.m., with the two suspects being accused of vandalizing a car in the Red Hill Road area.
At this time, there is no motive as to why the car was vandalized.
The two suspects, including the 16-year-old driver and the passenger, who is also a minor, are then said to have failed to comply with Clarkstown police.
Patrol units later spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull over the car, resulting in the driver reversing into an occupied school bus and leaving the scene.
The car fled through multiple residential yards, causing minor damage and eventually got stuck and was unable to continue at Schassler Place in Stony Point, according to police.
"I was on the road working, cutting hedges, and all of a sudden I hear this car going down the street at a high speed...and being that it's a dead end, I thought he was just going to stop...but no he went right through. He flew right over the rocks itself," said Stony Point resident Joe Roldon, who witnessed a portion of the car chase.
Police say the 16-year-old driver is now facing multiple charges, including criminal mischief, reckless driving and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
They added that there were no injuries to members of the public or any officers.
