A suspected serial robber accused of threatening a store employee with a knife was arrested Tuesday morning in Carle Place.
Authorities say Lucis Jenkins Jr. stole from a Hempstead supermarket and displayed a switchblade at loss prevention officers who tried to intervene. He then fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.
Responding officers say they caught up to him on Old Country Road. He was violent and combative as they attempted to take him into custody.
Jenkins Jr. is believed to be responsible for two other robberies in the area.
Police say he struck an officer with his car following a robbery at a BJ’s in Westbury. That officer sustained minor injuries.
He also hit uninvolved vehicle that had been parked nearby, according to authorities.
Another previous robbery took place at The Bravo, where police say he also pulled a knife on a worker in February.
Police say the charges against him include robbery, assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, petit larceny and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at the First District Cout in Hempstead.
