A Queens man accused of trying to scam a 77-year-old woman out of $10,000 was arrested Thursday in Lindenhurst.
Police say the victim received an alert on her computer Wednesday that claimed her bank account was compromised and instructed her to call a phone number.
A man answered the call and convinced her to withdraw cash from her bank account.
Authorities say a man then went to her home and picked up over $16,000.
The woman called police after receiving a call on Thursday seeking an additional $10,000.
Police then apprehended 29-year-old Gurpreet Singh at the victim’s home.
Detectives say they believe a different male suspect collected the $16,000 from the woman on Wednesday.
Police urge anyone who thinks they may be a victim to call 631-854-8152.
