Police say an unidentified man managed to slip into an elementary school in Floral Park earlier this week.
Detectives say the man was able to enter Our Lady of Victory School on Bellmore Street, went down several stairs and headed toward a bathroom.
News 12 is told that a scheduled fire drill then sounded, prompting the evacuation of everyone in the building - including the intruder.
The man was then spotted by students and faculty outside the building. After an attempt to stop the man, he was able to flee.
Detectives say no injuries were reported and it is unclear if the intruder interacted with students. It is not yet known how the man entered the school.
The subject is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 29 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
