Police are warning Long Islanders to not drink and drive during the last few weeks of summer. 
Nassau, Suffolk and State Police are joining the statewide effort to reduce DWIs. 
Officials say additional sobriety checkpoints will be present throughout both counties. 
The stepped-up patrols kick off today and run through Labor Day weekend.
