Police and soldiers at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Ronkonkoma treated two young Long Islanders to a day to remember.
Suffolk police escorted 5-year-old RJ Sy, who is battling stage 4 cancer, and 9-year-old Joseph Maroney, who is fighting leukemia, to the facility Friday.
Once on site, the children and their families were able to tour the support facility and interact with an Army helicopter.
They also met Suffolk police's newest K9, Dallas, in honor of the officers that died during an attack earlier this month.
Families say the day was a much-needed break from going back and forth to the hospital.
