Police: Smithtown man had child in getaway car while robbing bank

Police tell News 12 that 40-year-old Philip Ferrito went into the TD Bank on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage just before 9 a.m. Wednesday and gave a teller a note demanding money.

A Smithtown man is accused of robbing a bank as his son waited in the getaway car.
Police tell News 12 that 40-year-old Philip Ferrito went into the TD Bank on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage just before 9 a.m. Wednesday and gave a teller a note demanding money.
The teller handed over some cash and Ferrito took off in his vehicle, according to police. When they found Ferrito, his child was in the back seat.
Ferrito is now charged with robbery and endangering the welfare of a child.
