Police seek suspect in Freeport murder
Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a 21-year-old man in Freeport early Sunday morning.
They say Autrey Smith, of Roosevelt, fired multiple rounds in the driveway of the home located at 49 Colonial Ave. Investigators say the victim, 21-year-old Lyreek Crawley, was shot in the head.
Neighbors say a party was going on at the time. A woman who lives in the home where the shooting happened declined to speak on camera, but said her 21-year-old son had a party without her permission while she was out of town for the holidays.
Detectives say it was not a random murder, and that the victim and suspect were both at the same party. Police say the motive for the shooting is undetermined at this time.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to Smith's arrest.
