A Huntington Station man was mowed down and left in the street to die after a night of dancing, and now police are trying to track down the driver who left the scene.
Family members say 25-year-old Reinaldo Yanes enjoyed a night on the town on Saturday after he finished work at his landscaping job. He was dancing and having fun at La Hacienda club in Huntington Station before the incident.
Police say Yanes left the club at around 3 a.m. and crossed New York Avenue to meet his ride home. That's when a car traveling southbound struck and hit Yanes without stopping, killing him.
Investigators say there weren't many witnesses to the crash, but a surveillance camera from the area may yield some clues. Employees from a nearby restaurant say that in the video, a Grand Marquis vehicle comes flying down the road, hits Yanes and drives off.
Employees at La Hacienda say Yanes wasn't intoxicated when he left the club, and that he was a regular customer who was liked by all.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
