The driver of a car that struck and killed a young Hempstead motorcyclist Friday is on the run.
Police say Alexis Robles was riding his miniature motorcycle when he turned onto the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Harrison Street. Robles was struck by a maroon-colored SUV and thrown 120 feet into the air. He was rushed to Mercy Medical Center where he later died.
The type of miniature motorcycle Robles was riding is illegal. Police say they?re hard to spot on the road and drivers sit low on the bike, making their rides more dangerous.
Police are urging anyone with information about the accident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
