Police say four adults and two children were hospitalized following a multivehicle crash in North Bellmore early Thursday.
The crash happened on Jerusalem Avenue and Newbridge Road around 7 a.m., police say.
A tractor-trailer and another vehicle came in contact. Another vehicle struck parked cars and the tractor-trailer overturned in the intersection of a Stop & Shop parking lot, officials say.
Several vehicles were totaled in the incident, including a mini school bus.
No one on the school bus was injured.
The six people that were taken to the hospital suffered minor injuries, police say.
Newbridge Road has reopened from Jerusalem Avenue to Waring Street, but residents say the area needs the town to install a traffic light.
"We have so many accidents out here all the time," says Angela Scarpinito. "It just plays a smaller part in a bigger picture."
Police are continuing to investigate what caused the crash.
