Police say a pedestrian was fatally stuck by two vehicles Saturday night in Mastic.
It happened at the intersection of Herkimer and Carlton streets shortly before 9 p.m.
Police say the man, whose identity has not been released, was first struck by an SUV. The driver of that vehicle remained at the scene and called 911.
But they say the victim was then struck by another vehicle that took off.
Investigators are now looking for a dark-colored, four-door sedan.
It's not the first time something like this has happened in the area. As News 12 reported back in February, there was another hit-and-run about a half a mile away on Mastic Road where a woman died the same way - a car stopped to call 911 and another car hit and killed her.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
