Police say a Hempstead Village officer opened fire during a traffic stop on Monday. 
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Harvard Street.
Officials say the suspect fled from the scene after the officer fired his weapon.
They say the vehicle was later found, unoccupied, on Princeton Street.
No arrests have been made.
