A North Amityville man was arrested after police say he intentionally crashed into a police vehicle more than once in West Babylon just after midnight.
Officers say they noticed a car driving without a rear license plate light on Centerwood Avenue.
They also say they saw the driver, 33-year-old Naquan Reid, not wearing a seatbelt and stopped the car on the corner of Troy Avenue and Centerwood Street.
As the officers were speaking to him, detectives say Reid sped away, which resulted in a police chase.
Officers say they were able to catch up to him a short time later when Reid made a U-turn on the corner of Troy Avenue and Lakeway Drive and hit a police car head-on.
Reid allegedly hit the police car for a second time, this time on the corner of Fulton Street and Straight Path.
Detectives say he then ran out of the car in an attempt to run away from the officers, but he was arrested.
Both of the officers involved suffered minor injuries.
