Police are searching for a driver accused of hitting a motorcyclist and leaving him to die in Hempstead.

Officials say the incident happened Wednesday on Baldwin Road when 57-year-old Jose Diego-Gesteira, of New Hyde Park, was riding on a Yamaha motorcycle and was fatally struck by a Kia turning left onto Lawson Street.

Gesteira was pronounced dead at the scene. News 12 is told the driver of the Kia ran from the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
