Police say a 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside his Merrick home.
It happened Saturday night on Elliot Street, shortly before midnight. Police say the man was stabbed multiple times.
Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not released the man's identity.
Detectives say the victim, who lives with his family, was home alone at the time.
Nassau County Police Department Detective Lt. Richard LeBrun said at a Sunday morning press that it's a "complex case" and that police are continuing the investigation as a homicide.
Police say the stabbing was not random, and that the victim and perpetrator knew each other.
Neighbors who spoke with News 12 were shocked to hear of the deadly violence in their area.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
