Police say three masked men armed with machetes robbed a Central Islip beauty salon Monday night, while there were children in the store.
Rosaria Garcia, owner of Vilma?s Unisex Salon, says three Hispanic men busted in through the back door and demanded money. One of her female customers was in the salon with her three young children when it happened.
The robber allegedly demanded the customer?s purse, but instead of giving it up, she ran to the front exit of the store. Garcia?s daughter Carolina Bautista, who translated for her mother, says one of the men tried to stop the customer and threatened her with the machete. The customer screamed, opened the cash register and ran out the door for help, Bautista says.
Bautista say the robbers stole the cash out of the register and ran out the back door. She says the customer suffered a cut to her back, but didn?t need medical treatment.
