Police are searching for two men who allegedly tried to snatch a child in Nassau County.
Police say the attempted abduction happened on Thursday morning in Russell Gardens at the corner of South Middle Neck Road and Melbourne Street.
Police say a 10-year-old boy was waiting for his school bus when a grayish white utility van stopped in front of him.
A man got out of the passenger side door and walked toward the boy, gesturing him toward the vehicle. The boy ran away and the men took off.
"At this point what we're doing is we want to get the word out there to all the homeowners, all the residents in the area - please check your Ring doorbell, please check your surveillance systems. Make sure if you see anything suspicious you call us," says Nassau Police Detective Lt. Richard LeBrun.
Police say the male passenger of the van is white, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches with an average build and dark hair. He was wearing a short black winter jacket.
Detectives are asking anyone with info to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
