Police say a man was caught on camera using his cellphone to record a woman and two young girls through the bathroom window of an Elmont home.
Home surveillance video shows the alleged suspect walking up to the back porch of the home with his cellphone out and taking video. Police say the man ventured into the backyard around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
No one answered the door when News 12 visited the home Monday, but neighbors say they're stunned by the surveillance footage.
"This is really scary," says Amanni Hack.
Police Detective Lt. Richard LeBrun says the suspect is about 6 feet tall, has a beard and was wearing shorts with a camouflage pattern and dark shoes at the time. He says the man was spotted by a neighbor who alerted the home's occupant.
Police have intensified patrols in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
LeBrun says this should serve as a reminder for people to consider installing camera equipment and motion-detecting lights, and to look out for neighbors.
