Police: Man punched woman walking at State Preserve in North Massapequa

Police say two people had noticed the suspect acting erratically and decided to walk in another direction from him.

A man is under arrest for allegedly attacking a woman by punching her in the head.
Police released a photo of the suspect -- Joshua Jones, of South Farmingdale.
They say he hit the victim in the back of the head with his fist while she was walking with a friend at the State Preserve in North Massapequa.
Police say the two had noticed Jones acting erratically and decided to walk in another direction from him. But shortly after, he approached them from behind.
The attack happened at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, police say. Jones was apprehended shortly after.
Jones is facing third-degree assault charges in connection to the incident.
