Police: Man killed during 7-vehicle crash in Riverhead; driver charged with DWI

A Riverhead man was arrested for driving while intoxicated Wednesday following a crash that resulted in the death of his passenger, police say.
Christian Aroldo Mendoza-Baquiax, 38, struck seven vehicles at around 6 p.m. before overturning his Acura on County Road 105, according to authorities.
Police say his passenger, Nelson Guidel Reyes Muxin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mendoza-Baquiax was hospitalized for injuries that are not considered life-threatening. He was arraigned at the hospital on Thursday.
Mendoza-Baquiax is charged with felony DWI and had his bail set at $500,000.
