A man is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after breaking into multiple businesses in Island Park, authorities say.

Detectives say Jean Barroso pried open the back door of Ananau Peruvian Cuisine in an attempt to get inside Saatchi Jewelry on Monday.

Police say the 27-year-old went onto the roof to enter the jewelry store.

Barroso took jewelry worth $22,000 and ran off, police say.

Following an investigation, Barroso was arrested and found to be in the United States illegally.
