Police say a man held a woman at gunpoint before stealing her car in a Lake Grove supermarket parking lot Monday night.
They say the incident happened at a Whole Foods on New Moriches Road. Police say 23-year-old Stephanie Rodriguez reported her car was stolen at gunpoint around 10:30 p.m.
She told police she was sitting in the driver's side of her 2008 Chrysler Sebring waiting for her boyfriend to finish his shift when she noticed a man pacing back and forth. She says he then came up to her and asked for directions.
Police say the man then pointed a handgun at Rodriguez and told her to get out of the car. They say she obliged, and the suspect took off in the car.
Police say Rodriguez was not injured. She told News 12 that she was "terrified" and ran inside Whole Foods to get help.
The gunman also allegedly took off with her wallet, license, money and credit cards.
