Police have released the identity of the man found buried in the woods this week in East Meadow, behind Kellenberg High School.
Police say Carlos Rivas-Majano, 21, of Uniondale, was found in a shallow grave after being stabbed, slashed and hacked to death last August. Authorities acted on tips when they started digging in East Meadow on Tuesday morning.
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said that Rivas-Majano was an MS-13 member.
On Thursday, admitted MS-13 gang member and undocumented immigrant Carlos Benitez-Hernandez, of Uniondale, was charged for Majano's murder.
Police say Benitez-Hernandez is one of several gang members who killed Majano.
