Police shut down part of Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station for several hours Monday after a man was struck and killed by a car.
The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Jericho Turnpike near Thorney Avenue.
Officials say the 35-year-old victim was crossing the street when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle just after he cleared one lane.
The driver remained at the scene and no charges were filed.
The victim's identity has not been released.
The road was reopened shortly before 6 p.m.
