Police: Man charged with assault for beating another man with metal tire reamer in New Cassel

Police say 42-year-old Pedro Hernandez hit the victim in the back of the head and punched him repeatedly in the face while holding the metal tire reamer.

A man is accused of beating another man Thursday in New Cassel with a metal tire reamer.

Police say 42-year-old Pedro Hernandez hit the victim in the back of the head and punched him repeatedly in the face while holding the metal tire reamer.

Detectives say the two men got into a fighting at the intersection of Magnolia and Prospect Avenues at around 1 p.m.

Hernandez fled the scene but was later found at a parking lot.

He is charged with assault.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of a severe injury to his eye, multiple lacerations and substantial pain.
