A West Hempstead man is facing charges after a public lewdness incident in Malverne Park Oaks.
Police say 33-year-old Christopher Merenlander is accused of exposing himself to a woman while he was driving his car. The alleged incident happened in broad daylight near the corner of Hempstead Avenue and Atlas Avenue in Malverne Park back on Sept. 23.
Police say Merenlander was in a Subaru when he exposed himself to a woman in the car next to him. She attempted to drive away, but he allegedly followed her and continued to expose himself, they say.
After a few blocks, police say the suspect drove off. But he was eventually identified, and police say he turned himself in yesterday.
He was ordered held on $1,000 bond.
Anyone who thinks they may have been victimized by the suspect is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
