Police say a man and woman have been arrested for burglarizing an assisted living facility in Medford.
Police say Allison Brown, 42, of Coram, and Dwayne Murphy, 44, broke into the kitchen at the Medford Hamlet assisted living facility early Saturday morning. They stole food and kitchen items, such as pots and pans.
The suspects were observed by a security guard who was watching real-time surveillance footage. The guard called police, who arrested Brown at the scene. Murphy, who is homeless, was arrested later in Central Islip.
Despite the incident, several residents who live at the facility told News 12 that they feel safe. Officials from the facility say the residents and staff were never in any danger.
Murphy and Brown are facing charges of third-degree burglary.
