Police made an arrest Saturday in the murder of a Brentwood woman whose death was not initially considered suspicious.
Authorities say Kenneth Hubbard, 27, confessed to the murder of his aunt, 48-year-old Sharon Kurtz, after an autopsy determined the woman had been strangled to death.
Hubbard allegedly entered Kurtz?s bedroom at 127 Caleb Path Thursday morning in an attempt to steal money. Authorities say Kurtz then woke up and a confrontation ensued. They say Hubbard was attempting to take money to support his drug habit.
Kurtz was found dead later that morning by her brother.
Police say Hubbard has a history of drug charges. Attempts by News 12 Long Island to contact the family of Hubbard and Kurtz were unsuccessful.
