A Levittown student was arrested Tuesday after police say he was found with a BB gun at school.
Police were called to Division Avenue High School at around 1 p.m. for a report of a student with a weapon.
One neighbor told News 12, "It's scary, but I hope they take action and it doesn't happen again."
According to a spokesperson for the school, the principal sent the following statement to the school community about the incident:
This is an important message regarding recent police activity at Division Avenue High School.
A hold in place was initiated when it was reported that a student was in possession of a weapon. Police were immediately called to the scene as well as our Director of Security. The Nassau County Police Department has investigated the situation, which ultimately determined the weapon was a BB gun, and addressed it in accordance with our safety procedures and the law. All students are safe, and classes will resume shortly.

Police have not said what charge or charges the student is facing.
